FRESH Shop Manager

FRESH is a new generation of barbershop born of historic roots but built for the future. It is a space for pursuing the highest level of hair artistry through intercultural connection. Unlike conventional barbershops, FRESH is for people of all genders, races and backgrounds to come together for high style and true community. To create an experience of excellence for our hair artists and guests alike, we need a passionate Shop Host to make everyone feel seen and celebrated every day. 

We think of this role as a stellar party host. We’re looking for someone with:

  • At least 3 years of customer service/experience
  • Innate ability to genuinely connect with others
  • Understanding of what it takes to exceed guest expectations
  • Big ambition to own the role and grow the business
  • A high sense of style and a higher sense of purpose

Functions of the role include:

  • Product ordering/inventory
  • Hiring/termination process 
  • Equipment maintenance/scheduling
  • Vendor relationship management (products, equipment servicing)
  • Sales reporting, goal tracking
  • Management team meetings/communications
  • Customer service 

Start Date: October 2021

Employment Status: Non Exempt

Compensation: $17 hourly

Commitment: Up to 40 hours per week

Schedule: Evening and weekend availability required

  • Passion for coffee (past barista experience welcome, but not essential)

  • Create and maintain a welcoming and accommodating café environment
  • Create and maintain a culture of excellence
  • Provide recommendations and education to customers about our products in an approachable way

  • Communication with manager and team

COFFEE KNOWLEDGE (can be trained if new to industry)

  • Bar flow training
  • Coffee varieties
  • Quality control processes (dial in, recipes, etc.)


  • Keep space clean and organized
  • Record and appropriately store deliveries
  • Keep products stocked and organized in retail and bakery space
  • Support management and execution of special events in the café
  • Adhere to hygiene, safety and security protocols
  • Keep equipment clean and in proper working order
  • Alert team manager to any necessary preventative or reactive maintenance needs
  • Utilize POS system for sales and reporting
  • Track and record product waste


Start Date: October 2021

Employment Status: Non Exempt

Compensation: $12.50 hourly, plus tips. Pay will increase annually commensurate with the Minneapolis Minimum Wage Ordinance.

Commitment: Up to 40 hours per week

Schedule: Evening and weekend availability required
