All About The Frequencies
Most folks have heard of hertz or frequencies in some capacity. A frequency can be described as the rate at which a vibration occurs in order to make a wave. Frequencies come in material form, such as sound waves, and can also come in a non-material form, like radio waves or light waves. The unit used to measure these frequencies is hertz; hertz is the cycle per second.
In simple terms, the hertz measurement of something can tell us how fast waves are moving around us, whether that be sound waves, light waves, or radio waves.
There have been many studies that have demonstrated that different hertz can have an adverse or beneficial effect on the body and mind of plants, animals, and on us. Because of this, frequencies are something we try to be conscious of in the cafe, the barbershop, and the products as much as we can. It’s easy for us to dismiss the benefit of something when we can’t physically see it, but many of us here recognize the shift when we incorporate frequencies into the space and products.
Each of the products from FRESH is prepped, packaged, and tuned to a certain frequency.
The 3N1 Body Wash for example is tuned to 396 hz, which is the frequency usually associated with the release of guilt and fear.
The Wavy Hair Pomade on the other hand is tuned to 852 hz, the frequency generally thought to bring good insight and intuition.
Each of the FRESH products is marked with a frequency that aims to bring a feeling or energy to the products that it wouldn’t otherwise have.
From the cafe side, frequencies play a key role in how we set the space. We do cleanses here that involve playing a frequency, burning our signature incense, and opening doors/windows to let things flow through the cafe. We usually do these cleanses after we deep clean the cafe, allowing the space to feel extra fresh as we open the next day.
Many of us here at The Get Down recognized the power of frequencies on a personal level as well. Generally speaking, music today is tuned to 440 hz, which has been shown in some studies to impact the body and mind negatively. Because of this, many of us are conscious of the music we listen to in our free time. Some artists that have produced music at more healing frequencies such as 432 hz include The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Jhene Aiko, Bob Marley, and Prince — it’s not surprising that music from these artists resonates with us in a way that other music generally doesn’t. Being conscious of the music we listen to in our free time is one big way to better understand the frequencies we’re exposing ourselves to on a daily basis; other ways to ensure your incorporating healing frequencies into your daily routine include using a singing bowl or sound bowl upon rising, or tuning material objects with something called a tuning fork.
You don’t however need any fancy tools or equipment to expose yourself to the right frequencies and energy — simply stop by The Get Down, and we’ve got you covered with the right music and products to up your mood.
